My Buster is a beautiful boy both inside and out. I rescued Buster from the Chesterfield County Animal Shelter in 2003. I walked into the shelter with my mom and no expectations. The only thing I knew was that I wanted a dog to love and provide a home for. I walked around the shelter for a while when I came to a window. Behind the window, was a room full of puppies. I scanned the room and my eyes immediately landed on this beautiful husky puppy staring back at me. I knew at that moment, that he was my boy!!

Buster turned twelve years old in August of 2015. In November, I noticed that when Buster came in from using the bathroom outside that there was blood on his bottom. I took him to the vet where an endoscopy was performed and a polyp was removed from Buster's colon. The vet advised that he sent the polyp to the lab and that it would be a few days before we heard the results. I waited, not so patiently, for the vet's phone call.

December 7, 2015 at 4:30 p.m., I received a phone call from my vet that made my heart stop. The vet advised that Buster had cancer, specifically Colo-rectal Adenocarcinoma. One of the hardest things I have ever had to deal with in my life was hearing that my beautiful, special, wonderful boy has cancer!

Today, Busta's cancer is in remission. He had chemotherapy every month and handle it like a trooper. Every visit the good folks at The Oncology Center said how happy he was and how he always greeted everyone every time he came.

Buster is the best "dog" that I have ever had and I thank God for bringing him into my life. Buster is my best friend!
